The formation of this gorgeous stone begins in fumaroles - cracks in the land in which steam and gas can escape.

It is formed in an active volcano in Indonesia, making this stone extremely rare.

It was only recently discovered in the 1990’s in Papandayan Volcano, West Java Province, Indonesia. Since then, this mineral has yet to be discovered anywhere else on Earth and geologists don’t expect to find another deposit of it anytime soon. This is an extremely rare occurrence in nature that simply doesn’t happen and it should be cherished, respected, and valued for the true uniqueness it holds.

Despite being named a variety of Jasper, Bumblebee Jasper does not contain Quartz, meaning it is not a jasper. Its said to be a mix of minerals such as Hematite, Sulphur, Anhydrite, Ilmenite, Arsenic & Volcanic Ash.

While Bumblebee Jasper is known to be made of toxic substances, minerals with toxic elements are said to be safe to handle especially once polished. The danger comes from inhaling their dust or microscopic fibres. We however advise caution and care with your necklace, and of course, do not put this pendant in/near your mouth or allow pets near it. 

Necklace can be shortened if needed by using pliers and removing the chain links.
